WHY VISSONA?

Creatives need a canvas. If asked why we took on this project, we'd agree that Vissona was born from necessity. Vissona was built because we couldn't live without it. A playground for musical ideas. A launchpad for up-and-coming artists in Connecticut and abroad. A place for meaningful collaboration and cultural moments. Stacked with carefully chosen, world-class audio gear, yes. But, we took it a step further in designing a comfortable and inspiring space for our clients. The details matter, and our attention to detail in the audio realm, as well as the artist experience, is what truly sets us apart.

DAN ZORN, CHIEF ENGINEER

Originally from Connecticut, Dan moved to Chicago in 2011 to finish his Bachelor's Degree in Audio Technology. During his final years at school, Dan quickly found himself immersed in the Chicago music scene. Starting out as an assistant at Pressure Point Recordings, he worked sessions with some of the biggest names in the game including Lil Durk, Tink, and G Herbo. After a productive run at Pressure Point, he reached out to the owner of Studio 11, a famous studio that had gained popularity after recording a young Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, Crucial Conflict and many more. Dan met up with the owner for sushi, shook hands, and so began the history of "In-Demand Dan"

From a very early age, Dan became obsessed with capturing and manipulating sound. When he was in grade school, he would spend hours playing with the “voice recorder” on his parents old Gateway computer. The voice recorder had a whopping 1 minute of recording time, so it wasn’t long until he found himself with a full on Pro tools rig in his childhood home. Dan started out playing guitar and drums , but very quickly found himself exploring new sonic possibilities with synthesizers, drum machines, and boutique guitar pedals- basically anything that made weird or interesting sounds. It’s safe to say that he found his heart in electronic music, and since then has produced multiple projects under various aliases within this genre. Since then he’s made House, Techno, Electronica, all the way to Hip Hop, Trap and experimental fusions- anything with knockin drums and a bassline.

When Dan finally made it to Chicago in 2011, he quickly found himself in the mecca of Dance music and felt right at home. It wasn’t long before he created the alias “Dan Ryan”, started DJing, and gained recognition from Chicago’s top House and Techno Producers and DJs. To this day, there are still people in Chicago that think his actual name is Dan Ryan (although Ryan is his middle name, so they aren’t too far off.)

After making his way through the dance circuit, Dan started engineering at Studio 11, a historic studio located in the heart of downtown Chicago. It was here where began to plant the seed for his deep rooted following in subsequent years. Dan believes that a large part of the credit he got as an engineer during those early years, was due to his production experience, not so much his technical understanding. When asking him about the initial success he had, he said “I may not have been paying attention to a compressors attack or release times, but I knew how to make shit sound cool, and that paid my bills for years (laughing).”

As years went by and he gained more technical understanding , he found that he was able to give artist’s a more full service experience by marrying both his production and engineering skills. This is when his name started to spread across Chicago, and it wasn’t long before everyone started lining up to work with him-many times having to wait months to get in. This is when the nickname “In Demand Dan” began and it wasn’t long before his name reached outside of Chicago. During his later years, he had the pleasure of working with some of the top names in the game- Yelawolf, B.O.B., Rockie Fresh, Mick Jenkins, Born Of Osiris, 300 of Montana, C Sick, Cloutboyz to name a few.

More recently, in 2021 Waves Audio reached out to Dan to ask him to create promotional videos for the re release of their Rennasaince series plugins. After receiving positive audience feedback, they then asked him to do the promotional video for the new Abbey Road Saturator. After the promotional video was created the plugin ended up winning the 2021 TEC award at NAMM. Dan has also published dozens of mixing related articles, including one that got picked up by ASCAP in their daily newsletter and sent to just under 1 million people.

After wrapping up a successful career in Chicago, Dan moved to Connecticut in 2022 to get back closer to his home ground, and continue his journey on the East Coast.
